The Russian man on [the] street is a citizen of New York City who was caught up in the US military's offensive against the Cloverfield Monster.

Background[]

As Rob Hawkins' group attempted to make their way through an alley in New York City in order to retrieve Hawkins' partner, one of the members, Hud Platt, is confronted by this man. Although none of the members of the group speak Russian, and so cannot understand him, the Russian man yells about his missing family, wondering if Platt knows where they are. Shortly thereafter the man continues running onward. His fate is unknown.

Trivia[]

  • The Russian man was played by prolific actor Pasha D. Lychnikoff, who appeared in Indiana Jones and Command and Conquer: Red Alert 3 the same year.[2]
  • This individual was originally believed to be the Frantic Man played by Rick Overton.
  • IGN published an article prior to the release of the film stating that the Russian man's ramblings foretold an apocalyptic event and that he perceived the Cloverfield Monster to be a "water god from the north."[3]
