Elizabeth McIntyre, or "Beth", was once Rob Hawkins' best friend. When they slept together. Rob quickly found that the change in their relationship made it hard for him to talk to Beth the way he could when they were 'just friends'. After the two split up, Rob decided to take a job in Japan, a decision possibly influenced by the change in relationship with Beth. Beth and her date Charlie attend Rob's going-away party, but the two leave before the monster attacks. During the attack, Beth is accidentally impaled on a protruding pipe and eventually rescued by Rob and his friends, who make their way into her damaged apartment building.
